Statement of Intent:
With my pictographs, I intend to portray the element of youth. Geometrically, I will arrange my shapes more circularly and naturally. With this specific style in mind, I chose to pick four animals that have pretty gravitating appearances, which would mimic the mind of a child. I chose to design a giraffe, turtle, flamingo, and elephant—all animals that you may see on children’s decor, clothes, etc. With the style inspiration I have researched through Pinterest, I will learn how to adapt characteristics from a secondary reference and how to translate the thought of shape into something more particular.

Statement of Intent:
This article was written by the founder of the well-known brand "Off-White". It talks about how Virgil Abloh came into the fashion industry as an outsider. He wanted to redefine the word streetwear. The article covers how luxury fashion "sells an image" and how its hard to go around the unsaid fundamentals of fashion. His main idea is that fashion is a communicative device. It speaks volumes that words simply cannot. For my project, I chose to use those that come from the fashion industry. I decided to cut out words from a recycled t-shirt from the thrift store and cut out the intricate shapes that I was visualizing while reading this article. I then used the texture of denim underneath, which is a key component in the streetwear world. He talks about how fashion was "the easiest subway train to graffiti without a cop in sight." This imagery immediately made me want to use the font style of graffiti art. I also imagined street signs and such, which drew me to the idea of incorporating the arrow, which is also a key symbol for the brand Off-White.
